The Lucky Charm Rainbow Toddler Purse - Super speedy & squishy!

Looking for the perfect Easter egg hunting bag for your toddler? Look no further than this adorable chenille yarn purse! This project works up quickly thanks to the chunky nature of chenille yarn, taking only 45 minutes to complete. Once finished, this purse makes for an adorable addition to any Easter basket. So grab your hook, your favourite chenille yarn, and let's get started on creating an Easter accessory that's sure to delight!

I used the following materials:

  • 6mm hook
  • Sweet Snuggles Lite in: lavender, baby green, daffodil, omphalodes, barely pink, and white
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

In pink:

R1: Chain 7. Beginning the second chain from the hook, work 5 single crochets down the chain. 3 single crochet in the same stitch. 6 single crochet down the back of the chain. Change colour to purple. Chain 1, turn. (14)

R2: 6 single crochet, 3 single crochet in the same stitch, 7 single crochet. Chain 1, turn. (16)

R3: 8 single crochet, 3 single crochet in same stitch, 7 single crochet. Change colour to blue. Chain 1, turn. (18)

R4: 8 single crochet, 3 increases, 7 single crochet. Chain 1, turn. (21)

R5: 21 single crochet. Change colour to green. Chain 1, turn. (21)

R6: 8 single crochet, 5 increases, 8 single crochet. Chain 1, turn. (26)

R7: 26 single crochet. Change colour to yellow. Chain 1, turn. (26)

R8: 10 single crochet, 6 increases, 10 single crochet. Chain 1, turn. (32)

R9: 32 single crochet. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Make a second rainbow piece in a solid colour.

With right sides facing each other, sew the two rainbows together on each side (only for 9 stitches up from the bottom to leave an opening for the purse). Do not sew the bottom of the rainbow.

Flip right side out.

Attach white yarn to the bottom corner of the purse and chain 2.

Work *double crochet bobble stitch, slip stitch* across the bottom, ensuring that you are stitching through BOTH sides of the bag.

(Double crochet bobble stitch: yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Repeat 4 times for a total of 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops. Chain to close.)

Tip: Make your slip stitches quite tight and push out each bobble with your finger to make them pop.

Strap:

Chain 85 (you can adjust this if you want the strap to be shorter or longer). Beginning in the second chain from the hook, slip stitch down the chain. Attach each end at the opening of the purse on either side.
