This pattern uses weight 6 blanket yarn. Any yarn may be used, but your crochet hook size will be different. Use a hook 1-2 sizes smaller than your yarn calls for. This pattern is in US crochet terms.

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds and using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch is recommended.

Head

R1: 6 sc in a magic ring

R2: 6 inc (12)

R3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)

R4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)

R5: 24 sc

R6: 8 sc, 8 inc, 8 sc (32)

R7-9 (3 rounds): 32 sc

R10: 8 sc, 8 dec, 8 sc (24)

R11: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)

Insert safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6, ensuring that the inc from round 6 is centered between the eyes (the inc form the mouth)

R12: (4 sc, dec) x 3 (15)

Begin stuffing the head. Shape out the mouth well. Continue stuffing as you go. Stuff firmly up to round 25, then stuff lightly. Barely stuff the snake after round 60. This will allow the snake to be wrapped around objects and be bendy.

R13-22 (10 rounds): 15 sc

R23: (3 sc, dec) x 3 (12)

R24-58 (35 rounds): 12 sc

R59: (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9)

R60-64 (5 rounds): 9 sc

R65: (1 sc, dec) x 3 (6)

R66: 6 sc

Fasten off and sew hole shut.
