No-Sew Octopus Crochet Pattern - Super Fast Make!

Materials:

  • Weight 6 yarn 
  • Size J/6.0mm 
  • Stuffing
  • 18 mm Safety Eyes or felt eyes 
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch Marker

Abbreviations:

  • mr = magic ring
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet 
  • inc = increase (2 sc in next stitch)
  • dec = invisible decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
  • st = stitch
  • FO = fasten off

This pattern uses weight 6 blanket yarn. Any yarn may be used, but your crochet hook size will be different. Use a hook 1-2 sizes smaller than your yarn calls for. This pattern is in US crochet terms.

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds and using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch is recommended. 

*Safety eyes are NOT recommended for children who are three years old or younger.

The octopuses pictured in the pattern is made with Sweet Snuggles Lite and parfait chunky.

Pattern:

R1: 8 sc in a magic ring

R2: 8 inc (16)

R3: (1 sc, inc) x 8 (24)

R4: (2 sc, inc) x 8 (32)

R5-9 (5 rounds): 32 sc

R10: (2 sc, dec) x 8 (24)

R11: 24 sc

R12: (1 sc, dec) x 8 (16) 

R13: In the front loop only – *1 sc, Ch 8. Beginning in the 2nd chain from the hook, 3 hdc in each chain, 1 sc.* Repeat * 7 more times.

Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, about 4 visible stitches apart. Begin stuffing the octopus.

R14: (1 sc, dec) x 8 in the back loops from round 13.

Finish stuffing the octopus, fasten off, and sew hole shut.

Round 14 couldn’t go into stitches that have tentacles so just did the stitches left that had no tentacles and then closed circle. Don’t know what happened. Using Bernat bulky 6 blanket yarn and 6mm hook.

I realized after a month of doing these I was doing double crochet and not hald double crochet. They look so good tho, would it honestly matter?
