This pattern uses weight 6 blanket yarn. Any yarn may be used, but your crochet hook size will be different. Use a hook 1-2 sizes smaller than your yarn calls for. This pattern is in US crochet terms.
This pattern is worked in continuous rounds and using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch is recommended.
*Safety eyes are NOT recommended for children who are three years old or younger.
The Fish pictured in the pattern is made with Sweet Snuggles Lite
Pattern:
R1: 6 sc in a magic ring
R2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
R3: (2 sc, inc) x 3 (12)
R4: 12 sc
R5: (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9)
If using, insert safety eyes at rounds 2-3, about 4 visible stitches apart.
R6: (1 sc, dec) x 3 (6)
Stuff the fish lightly. Fold the fish in half and 3 sc across to close. You may need to add an extra sc so that the eyes align with the body before you sc it closed (see picture). Do not fasten off.
Chain 1, turn, and work 3 hdc in each stitch of the tail.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Now you have your own mini fish! They're perfect as birthday treat bag fillers, baby toys (don't add the eyes and pop a rattle in the body), or as a companion to a larger crochet creature! LOVE!!!!! I love fishes and wanted a mini pattern to make as a bag charm! Then I decided to revamp it to fit a magikarp pattern for a pokemon event! Pattern is super easy to follow and I appreciate this sm! Super cute!
Like always an amazing pattern! This took me about 10 minutes to make! I embroidered the eyes, and used pink acrylic yarn. (It kinda looks like a gold fish so you might be able to make one of those! With lots of different colors of yarn, or just orange.) Anyways thanks! Will be making lots more. Happy crocheting!
