This pattern uses weight 6 blanket yarn. Though any yarn may be used, it is highly recommended to use a bulky weight yarn for this pattern. Use a hook 1-2 sizes smaller than your yarn calls for. This pattern is in US crochet terms.

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds and using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch is recommended.

*Safety eyes are NOT recommended for children who are three years old or younger.

The Love Bug pictured in the pattern is made with Sweet Snuggles Lite yarn.

Bobble Stitch (bo):

If you are unfamiliar with the bobble stitch, here is how you make it:

Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop.

Yarn over again and pull through two loops, leaving 2 loops on your hook.

Continue these steps until you have 5 loops on your hook.

Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops. Chain 1 to finish stitch.

In pink:

R1: 6 sc in a magic ring

R2: 6 inc (12)

R4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)

R5-6 (2 rounds): 24 sc

R7: 8 sc, bo, 6 sc, bo, 8 sc (24)

R8: 24 sc

Change to dark pink:

R9: 24 sc

Change to light pink:

R10: 24 sc

Insert safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6, about 3 stitches apart.

R11: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)

R12: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)

Stuff the body firmly.

R13: 6 dec (6)

Insert your hook into round 3, just behind one eye. Chain 5. In the second chain from the hook, make a bo stitch. Sl st back down the chain. Sl st into the body. Fasten off and weave in your end. Repeat for the second antenna, ensuring that the two are symmetrical.
