This pattern uses weight 6 blanket yarn. Though any yarn may be used, it is highly recommended to use a bulky weight yarn for this pattern. Use a hook 1-2 sizes smaller than your yarn calls for. This pattern is in US crochet terms.
This pattern is worked in continuous rounds and using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch is recommended.
*Safety eyes are NOT recommended for children who are three years old or younger.
The Dino pictured in the pattern is made with Sweet Snuggles Lite yarn.
Bobble Stitch (bo):
If you are unfamiliar with the bobble stitch, here is how you make it:
Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop.
Yarn over again and pull through two loops, leaving 2 loops on your hook.
Continue these steps until you have 5 loops on your hook.
Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops. Chain 1 to finish stitch.
Body:
R1: 6 sc in a magic ring
R2: 6 inc (12) *on the last inc, you're going to make a sc, change to secondary colour, then bo in the same stitch. Change to primary colour.
R3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
R4: (inc, 2 sc) x 5, inc, sc, change to secondary colour and bo, change back to primary colour (24)
R5: 24 sc
R6: 23 sc, change to secondary colour and bo, change back to primary colour (24)
R7: 8 sc, bo, 6 sc, bo, 8 sc (24)
R8: 23 sc, change to secondary colour and bo, change back to primary colour (24)
R9: 24 sc
R10: 8 sc, bo, 6 sc, bo, 8 sc (24)
Insert safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6, about 3 stitches apart.
R11: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
R12: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Stuff the body firmly.
R13: 6 dec (6)
Tail:
R1: 4 sc in a magic ring
R2: (1 sc, inc) x 2 (6)
R3: (2 sc, inc) x 2 (8)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly and sew onto the back of the dino, about 2 rounds up from the bottom of the body. Ensure the tail is centered in the back.
